Robert, later de Winnington of Winnington (d 1294?)
(1) Visitation (Cheshire, 1580, Winington of Winington) starts with Sir Richard Winington of Winington (a 1398) father (by Agnes) of Robert of Winington (father of Richard of Winington & Nicholas of Birches) and of Hugh (m. Cicely Haslington, heiress of the Hermitage) & Richard of Leftwich. We follow Ormerod who shows the connections between the branches quite differently.
(2) Ormerod spells the name of the main line as "Wyninton of Wyninton" and that of Northwich sometimes as "Winington". We keep to "Winnington" for simplicity's sake.

  m. Catherine or Alice Holland (dau of Ralph Holland of Bretton by Rose Skevington)
The Harleian editor inserts a generation here into the Visitation, shown in italics, a Richard (of Winington) married to Katherine Venables (d 22.08.1507-8). Ormerod does not show that generation. However, whilst Ormerod shows the following Richard as father of another Richard (father of Katherine & Elizabeth), Visitation does not show that 2nd Richard. Katherine Venables may have been a 2nd wife of ...
