Families covered: Parsons of Bellamont, Parsons of Birr Castle, Parsons of Rosse, Parsons of Tomduffe
Neither BE1883 nor BP1934 identify the parentage of Sir William & Sir Nicholas (who both settled in Ireland) but TCB (vol i, Parsons) reports of Sir William that he "emigrated to Ireland, about 1590, from Norfolk, being, apparently, s. of William Parsons, of that county". Lodge supports the view that a William was father of grandfather of Lord Justice Sir William, Sir Laurence, Thomas Fenton & Edward. However, a contributor (CV, 14.11.09) has kindly drawn our attention to the entry on Lord Justice Sir William in DNB which identifies his parents as the following James (2nd son of Thomas Parsons of Dishworth Grange, Leicestershire) & Catherine. | |||||||||||||||
