Note A. There is much confusion regarding the generation-attribution of various of the daughters of various of the John Savages of Clifton. We have tried to use dates and common sense to attribute them correctly but where there is doubt we prefer to show them a generation earlier rather than later as otherwise people may presume an additional maternal line that turns out to be irrelevant. However, whilst some time was spent on this, more time is needed to gain full comfort on it so this is all subject to review. Any comments on this, from anyone who has studied the matter, would be welcome!

John Hawarden) & Maude (m. Sir Robert Needham). The only child named by BE1883 in this generation was the eldest son, John. Visitation names 3 daughters Alice (m. Sir William Brereton - shown a generation earlier), Isabel (m. _ Needham, presumed sb Maude not Isabel) & Anne (m. _ Hampden).
  partner unknown.

Margaret is shown by Armstrong a generation earlier but by Ormerod (vol 1), BE183 and (possibly) Visitation as of this generation. Ormerod (Cheshire, vol 3, Honford and Brereton of Honford) suggests that she m2. William Honford (d 09.1513) but the dates do not support that given that she had 2 children by Edmund. Ormerod & BE1883 both name 2 daughters: Margery (m1. Edmund Leigh of Baggiley, m2. Thomas Leycester), Margaret (m1. John Maxfeld, m2. Randle Manwaring - we show 2 generations earlier an Elizabeth who had these husbands). Visitation names a different 2 daughters: Margrett (m.
