Families covered: Halket of Ballingall, Halkett of Lumphennans, Halkett of Pitfirran

This family is said to have taken its name from the barony of Halkhead in Renfrewshire. Douglas spells the name 'Halket' throughout but, following the lead of the sources which cover the recent generations of the family, we switch to 'Halkett' after just a few generations.
