| There appears to be some confusion as to the successive lairds of Silvyland and to the connection to this family of Knox of Dungannon, etc., ancestors of the Earls of Ranfurly. BP1870 (Ranfurly) shows the following succession & connection which we presume has since been found wanting by further research given that (1) BP1934 (Ranfurly) appears to have identified the father of Thomas Knox (who married Elizabeth Spang) as a different Marcus Knox and (2) BIFR1976 shows the connection coming through an earlier generation. We show the connection provided by BP1870 because it may prove useful in the future but report it in italics to show that we suspect that it is at least partly wrong. | |||||||||||||||
