Alexander Chisholm, The Chisholm (a 1584, d before 1590)
m1. Janet (Mary) Mackenzie (dau of Kenneth Mackenzie of Kintail, widow of Aeneas Macdonald of Glengarry)
1. Thomas Chisholm 'of Comer', The Chisholm (dspm before 1590)
Mackenzie (p48) identifies Thomas's wife as Janet, dau of James Fraser of Phoineas (brother of Hugh, Lord Lovat) & widow of John Glassich Mackenzie of Gairloch. However, in his work 'History of the Frasers' (p73), Mackenzie corrects the identity of her 2nd husband to Thomas's father, Alexander. We show her below as Alexander's 2nd wife and suggest that this was the Thomas Chisholm of Chisholm who married ...
  m. Janet Fraser (dau of Hugh Fraser of Guisachan & Culbokie)
2. John Chisholm of Comer, The Chisholm (a 1628)
m1. ?? (probably widow or dau of _ Bayne of Tulloch)
m2. ?? Mackenzie (dau of Alexander Mackenzie of Coul)
  A. Alexander Chisholm, The Chisholm
  m. (1639) ?? Mackenzie (dau of Thomas Mackenzie of Pluscardine)
BLG1952 describes Alexander's wife as his cousin, dau of Alexander Mackenzie of Gairloch. That seems to be wrong not least because, although related to the Mackenzies of Coul, the Mackenzies of Gairloch were was not so close as obviously to support the term "cousin". The Mackenzie we show as his wife was his second cousin. TSP (Seaforth) reports her husband as Alexander Chisholm of Comer which is thought to have still been owned by the head of the family at this time.
