  Anne was so named in honour of his godmother, Queen Anne. His first marriage is not reported by BP1934. TSP reports that the date of the marriage is unknown but there is strong (circumstantial) evidence to suggest that he was formally married to Mary Edwards (an heiress) although, after they separated, she repudiated the marriage.
